Our youngest is five years old and hasn’t lost any teeth yet.

That’s not unusual for most children, but every other child in our family has lost her first tooth at four years old. Our little one knows this, and has carefully wiggled her two loose teeth every night.

This morning, she said to me, “Mom, I’m five now! I am big enough to lose a tooth now. I think it is going to happen today.”

Though it won’t happen just yet, it was a great opportunity for me to remember that, even though we think we are big enough or ready enough, sometimes the timing just isn’t quite right. I know that, though the adoption journey is a long wait, when the time is right, the right child(ren) will be coming to us. I just have to wait a little longer. 🙂
